The method
Taught the way good teachers teach, not the way apps quiz.
Translating "the cat drinks milk" a thousand times does not get you through a train station. A task does. Every lesson has a plan: a real goal, three or four steps you have to take, a phrase for each, one grammar tip, and something that goes wrong. Prima stays in character, corrects by saying it right in her own next sentence, and saves the grammar for twenty seconds at the end.

Passive watching is free. Speaking counts.
The Prima Speak extension for Chrome listens along with the video in your tab. About every minute of speech, at the end of a line, Prima pauses it and you practise that line out loud, at your level; then the video plays on. Subtitles and their translation are free; practice uses your daily speaking minutes.
- A practice moment at the end of a line. Prima says the line slowly, you say it back, she fixes the one thing that matters and asks you something easy about it. Under a minute, then back to the video.
- Subtitles in two languages. The video's words over the video in the language you are learning, with the translation in yours. Point at a word for its meaning and keep it for Review; the video waits while you read.
- Practise that line. Heard something you want to say yourself? One button, or Alt+Shift+L, and Prima stops right there.
- Speak with Prima in the side panel. A free conversation with your tutor whenever you like, at your level, in the voice and coaching style you chose.
- Start free, no account. Subtitles work straight away, and as a guest you can practise out loud 3 minutes a day for your first 3 days. Your free account keeps everything.

Chrome 116 or later, on a computer. Some protected players deliver no sound to extensions; when Prima cannot hear a tab, the panel says so. Of the video's sound, only the last few seconds before a practice moment leave your computer, to run that moment.
In the iPhone app, coming later, Prima will listen along to whatever is playing on your phone, lower the volume while she speaks, and ask about the scene. She will not be able to press pause inside another app, so she will wait for the quiet moments.

Point the camera. Do the thing.
Turn on your camera in any session and Prima looks through it: the room becomes the lesson. Show her a cup, a menu, the view from your window; she names it, asks about it and has you say it. You act, you say it, you remember it.
- Your surroundings are the flashcards. Prima names what she sees and quizzes you on it, in the language you are learning.
- Actions stick. A verb you did with your body stays longer than a verb you read in a list.
- Harder rooms as you level up. As you get better, Prima asks you to describe the room, then to argue about what is wrong with it.
- Things, never looks. Prima talks about objects, places and actions, never about anyone's face or body. The pictures go straight to Google's Gemini, like your voice, and nobody keeps them.

Fun, not a cartoon.
Ten rounds, one buzzer each. First to press answers; a wrong answer hands it to the other side. Words you saved, lines Prima said to you, riddles and trivia in the language. Duel a friend live, fill a party of four, or send a challenge link: they get your ten questions and a day to beat you.
- Typed rounds are free and unlimited. "What does it mean", "Finish the line", trivia and riddles never touch your minutes.
- Three tiers, not one. Easy picks the meaning from four; Medium types the word from its meaning; Hard drops the hints and shortens the clock. A wrong pick costs the same as a wrong word, so guessing is never free.
- "Say it" rounds use your own minutes only. Your mic opens for ten seconds and Prima judges by ear; mis-speak and you can say it again inside the window. Nobody ever spends another player's minutes, unless a player chooses to cover the room's mic from theirs.
- Prima is the quizmaster. She reads the questions and referees the steals, and hearing her costs nothing.

What is Prima Speak?
Prima Speak is a live AI speaking coach. You practise a language by talking out loud with Prima, a warm AI tutor who answers by voice in real time, corrects you gently, adapts to your level and remembers what you tell her. There is also a course of real-life conversations, a text chat and a word review.
How is Prima Speak different from other language apps?
Most language apps are built around short exercises. Prima Speak is built around talking: every session is a spoken conversation, and in the course lessons Prima plays the other person in a real situation, like a café or a job interview, and helps you as you go. Many learners use both.
Is Prima Speak good for complete beginners?
Yes. Choose Beginner and Prima speaks slowly, in short sentences with everyday words, and asks easy questions you can answer in a word or two. Does the Chrome extension work with every video?
With most videos and audio with speech in a Chrome tab on a computer: YouTube videos, talks, lessons, news and podcasts. Some protected players deliver no sound to extensions, and then the panel says it cannot hear that tab. Subtitles need Chrome’s own speech recognition for your language on your computer; practice moments work either way.
Does Prima Speak record or store my voice?
No. While a session is open, your voice goes from your browser straight to Google’s Gemini Live, and Prima Speak never stores the audio. The transcript and report of each session stay in your account, so you can read them and Prima can remember you; you can delete Prima’s notes any time, or your whole account and everything in it.
Can Prima see through my camera?
Yes, when you turn it on. In any speaking session, tap the camera button and show Prima things around you: she names them, asks about them and has you say them, in the language you are learning. On a phone it uses the back camera, on a computer your webcam. The pictures go straight to Google’s Gemini Live, like your voice, and nothing is kept; Prima talks about things, never about anyone’s looks.
How does Prima’s memory work, and can I turn it off?
After a session Prima keeps a few short notes, like your job, a trip you mentioned or a word you keep missing, so the next conversation can pick up there. She never notes health, beliefs, money or anything that identifies you. In Settings, “See what Prima remembers” lists every note: delete any of them, or turn memory off to erase them all.
Can I learn more than one language?
Yes. Tap your language at the top of the dashboard and choose “Add a language”. Each language keeps its own level and progress, and your daily minutes are shared across all of them.
What counts as a minute on Prima Speak?
Only time in a live speaking session with Prima. Text chat, word review and reading your reports never use minutes. Your free minutes refill every day, one allowance covers all your languages and devices, and a session ends by itself after sixty seconds of silence.
Can I ask Prima a question in my own language?
Yes. The microphone stays open, so just ask, even while Prima is talking: “how do you say straw?” or “why this word and not that one?”. She answers in a sentence or two in your language, then carries on in the one you are learning.
Are there hearts, lives or penalties for mistakes?
No. A mistake costs nothing: Prima says it the right way in her next sentence and you carry on. You can replay any lesson straight away. The only thing that runs out is live speaking time, 3 minutes a day on the free plan, always shown at the top of the screen.
Is there a game?
Yes, the Buzzer: ten quick rounds on your own words and phrases, first to buzz answers. Play against the computer, a friend or up to four players, or send a challenge link a friend has a day to beat.
Is Prima a real person?
